What makes Lotus oven-baked food for dogs taste so good and wholesome without “Natural Flavors”

Because we oven-bake Lotus instead of extruding (a cooking process which uses steam and very high pressure of three times atmospheric pressure) Lotus taste better than extruded foods. We bake our foods at normal atmosphere in a gas fired oven in small batches. And we add lots of fresh meat – like our oven-baked grain-free turkey with 40% fresh turkey, turkey liver and herring which has no meals and no sprayed on “Natural Flavors”. The 40% fresh meat combined with slowly baking produces a food which is true in flavor because flavor is coming from the meat itself not some sprayed on “Natural Flavor

What are “Natural Flavors”

They are usually proteins and other unnamed ingredients that that are combined and processed using heat, hydrolysis, fermentation, etc. to make a pet food taste palatable. Unfortunately, many hydrolyzed or fermented yeast or proteins actually contain MSG. This would be like going to your local sandwich shop to get a turkey sandwich and as the person who makes your sandwich places the turkey on the bread he also sprays the turkey with a bottle labeled “turkey flavor”! After you see this you may wonder why on earth would you need to add “turkey flavor” to a turkey sandwich? This is what happens to the majority of extruded dog foods.

Why is your dog food healthier without “Natural flavors”?

Your dog is healthier without these sprayed on or added “Natural Flavors” because this removes a major processed ingredient that is added because real flavor is extruded out or there not enough fresh and unprocessed ingredients to begin with. There is growing evidence that unprocessed and real foods help prevent disease and help our dogs live longer.
