Meet Big Bird

Favorite color is RED

Favorite treat is peanuts,  unsalted fully shelled.  every morning at 7:25 if he does not get his peanut he will then begin to scream.

Favorite fruit is green grapes,  we have tried oranges and is scared to death of them.  why???  We do not know.

We feed Big Bird a Pelleted diet called Petty Bird daily select.  He does not like the green pellets so they all get thrown on the floor.

Favorite toy is his big red bell.  We are very concerned that when the bell doesn’t work any more what he will do.  We have tried to find the exact replacement and we can not.  We have tried other bells and he destroys them.  The red bell is his best friend,  He will wrap it around himself and tuck it under his wing and fall asleep.  Customers always come to us concerned he is strangling himself but no worries he is just snuggling the metal bell.

Big bird gets a spray bath every morning,  and enjoys it most days.  We have tried to put a litter pan with water so he may take his own bath and he wants nothing to do with that.

Favorite human species is children.  Loves them,  will show off,  turn his head upside down and start talking.

Favorite song is blurred lines  loves this song,  Friday mornings when it comes on the radio we turn it up loud before we are open and we all dance with Big Bird!!  It is quite  the scene.

Big Bird has a large vocabulary for a Green Wing Macaw Words he says: Hi, Hello, LInda, Angel, Peek a boo,  Bye,  Tickle tickle,  poly want cracker,  cracker,  What , uh oh,  come here. He also mimics the phone and says Angels Pet World when the phone rings.

Big bird only allows a few of us to hold him. Big birds beak has the force of 2,200 pounds of pressure if he were to clamp down,  so this means he can easily break a finger or fracture your arm.

Big bird is not for sale.  He loves his home and the non stop attention he gets every day.

Big bird dislike our Veterinarian.  Sorry Dr. Keller!!!  Big bird gets his beak and nails trimmed about every three month and just a overall health check. When the vet is coming we have to get him off his cage before he see’s Dr. Keller or there is no way he is letting Angel pick him up!!!  He knows what he looks like and sounds like!!  This is always a big event when the vet comes,  it is like he senses he is coming.

We do not know if Big bird is male or female we just assumed he is a male.  to find out we could have blood test done,  but in our eyes it doesn’t matter.

Big Bird is not afraid of dogs.  The dogs should be afraid of him!! LOL!  Big Bird is very friendly and the dogs can never get to him when he is on top of the cage!
