Small Business Week

May 1st – 7th is Small Business Week, so we’d like to give you a few reasons why you should be shopping locally!
According to businessknowhow.com, 50% of small businesses fail within the first year and 95% of those businesses fail within five years! We’re proud that Angel’s has been around since 2003!
First and foremost, when you shop at a local business, you’re supporting the business owner. Small business owners also support small businesses and tend to shop locally, hire out other self-employed contractors and handymen, and other workers. Therefore, more of the money you spend at a local business goes back into the economy and strengthen the economic base of the community.
When you support a small business, you’re supporting not only the economic foundation of your community, but the members within it as well. “Small local businesses are the largest employer nationally, and in our community, provide the most jobs to residents.” Without the support of our loyal shoppers, we wouldn’t have Angel’s Pet World or many other unique restaurants and shops downtown. If you drive down Second Street, almost every one of your favorite shops or restaurants is locally owned and operated.
You can support local non-profits, when you support local businesses. It’s said that “non-profit organizations receive on average 250% more support from smaller business owners than they do from large businesses.” Angel’s Pet World works closely with animal rescue groups such as Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue, A-Way With Cats (off branch of Cocker Spaniel Resources), Greyhound Pets of America: Minnesota, and Across America Boxer Rescue. We regularly make donations to many of these organizations and will continue to support their efforts.
Small businesses in Hudson are also involved in cool events like Bark For Life, HIBA (Hudson Independent Business Association), and Girl’s Night Out, which includes raffles and free stuff, and other cool promotions for shopping local.
